The essential urban concept of the Algirdas Street apartment complex is based on creating a building that is fully integrated in the context of the Vilnius New Town in order to offer high quality living conditions for residents. Design principles are based on a detailed analysis of the urban context including the historic urban fabric analysis, studies of morphological structure and urban spaces.
The perimeter building ensemble is divided into
separate buildings, which emphasize outwardfacing cornices and sloping roofs of glass
structures. This creates a contextual volumetric
model of buildings. The facades facing the enclosed
but spacious courtyard are formed from hanging
volumes with terraces and loggia cutouts that
contributes to creating a pulsating, smaller-scale
volume while ensuring the privacy for residents.
The most distinctive architectural element is the
structure of the double facade, which not only helps
to form the Algirdo Street, but is visible from the
first two floors in the facades of all buildings as
well.
Quality of life – an exclusive focus on the person,
his needs and comfort. All apartments ensure high
quality of life. The apartments are relatively equal
to each other- there are apartments with large
private terraces, large windows, mezzanines or
private courtyards. Safe, green and quiet courtyard
without any cars.
Sustainable design – the design of composition,
architecture, constructive, engineering, aesthetics
are estimated and evaluated. The longterm solutions
for aesthetics are searches, found and used.
Exceptional attention is paid to the person, context,
the search for a humane scale.
