“The clear waters of the NerisRiver and the resinscented forests of Sapieginė determined the beauty,
coziness and peace of Antakalnis nature, provided
all the conditions for rest and carefree life. And the
fact that this suburb is so close to the city
encouraged noblemen, prominent church officials
and city patricians to build their summer houses,
villas in Antakalnis and to spend their leisure time
here. ” excerpt from Lost Vilnius by Vladas Drėma

The architectural concept seeks to preserve the
former urban structure of country villas housing in
this place, merging with nature and the steep slope
by the river. Perimeter oriented housing is avoided
to approach a humane scale. Designing a stepped,
sloping building structure with internal
amphitheater – yard and ensures wide views of all
the panoramas. The architectural expression of the
building uses columns as the classical architectural
elements of the facade – they are often found in the
surrounding buildings‘ architecture. The volume
rises ascending to the top of the slope, creating an
upward widening yard space. The building’s
terraces and balconies are targeted to the river’s
slope and the scenery of the Old Town. Natural
facade finishing materials such as concrete, wood,
stone are used. The planted roofs of the complex
intersect with the existing slope whilst naturally
extending the planted terraces of the plot.
