Just a few hundred meters away from the busy city street and you will find yourself in the exclusive surroundings of the park. Peace and harmony of nature – this feeling is further enhanced by the natural valley, the old arroyo. Sunny valley slope. Woodland edge. Location of a former wooden house. Territory of the regional park. The limitations of the architectural expression due to exeptional location and the vision of the clients to live in a modern house are the main starting points.
How to find a compromise?
The proposed solution recedes as much as possible into the sunny slope of the woodland. The new volume is being designed on the site of the former villa. The existing slope and all valuable trees on the plot are preserved. The building seems to “hang” over the valley, opening to it with continuous windows. Ground floor is partially hidden on the hillside. The choise of black schist facade let the building to merge with its own shadows. Only the volume of the first floor decorated with natural wood is visually exhibited. The laconic, sculptural form of the volumes interprets the silhouette of a traditional two-story house. The division of the volume, the changing shapes of the volumes, the humane proportions and the harmony of glass and wood create the impression of lightness. Internal spaces follows volume forms. The seamless natural wood decor of the facades and roof creates a sense of shape integrity. By dividing the volume, micro outdoor spaces are created. It is a house of nature. In regard to this, all major premises have access to the outdoor spaces – courtyards.
. . The courtyards are located at different levels. Jos išsidėsto skirtinguose lygiuose. By creating a sense of immediacy and privacy, you can enjoy both the morning and the evening sun. The hanging volume of the ground floor provides a covered terrace. The ground floor windows are partially covered by vertical wooden blinds. They protect the building from overheating and becomes an integral part of the interior. In order to minimize intervention to the natural valley, the planted lawn and natural granite paved entrance to the building are designed. The plot is surrounded by the openwork metal fence, the existing trees are preserved. For consistency, exclusively natural finishing materials have been selected.
